The Evergreen School is seeking enthusiastic, caring individuals to join our dynamic Extended Care team. This is a wonderful opportunity to support and engage with students from preschool through 8th grade in a fun, enriching, and inclusive environment. The school seeks candidates who are highly collaborative and able to support a sense of inclusion and belonging at our school. Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Engage with and supervise children in a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate manner
- Lead and support enrichment activities, games, and creative projects
- Prepare and serve nutritious snacks, ensuring awareness of allergies and dietary restrictions
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play, including recess and transitions between activities
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with parents/guardians regarding daily updates or concerns
- Collaborate closely with a team of extended care staff to support a positive, structured environment
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports as needed
- Assist with setup and cleanup of program spaces
- Support students with conflict resolution and emotional regulation using positive behavior strategies
- Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures as outlined by the school
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience working with children, ideally in an educational, camp, or child care setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to meet Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) licensing requirements for school-age programs, if applicable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of children in a variety of activities, both indoors and outdoors
- Creative, energetic, and flexible approach to working with students across a wide age range
- Capacity to respond calmly and effectively in emergency or challenging situations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Dependable, punctual, and professional demeanor

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds in connection with job duties such as assisting with classroom setup or moving materials.
- Ability to stand, sit, and move comfortably throughout classrooms and school hallways for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven surfaces, and escort students as needed between locations within and outside school buildings.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
This is an hourly, part-time, non benefits-eligible position for the school year. The salary for this position is $25.32 per hour.
This position takes place Monday‑Friday during the school year, with working hours typically scheduled from 2:30pm to 6:00pm while school is in session. Scheduling is based on program needs and individual availability. Additional hours may be available during some Faculty Work Days.
Employees in this role must be available a minimum of three (3) afternoons per week during program hours, unless otherwise approved by their supervisor. Schedules are created in advance and are typically posted at least two weeks prior to the start of each schedule cycle.
