Position SummaryThe elementary vocal music teacher provides developmentally appropriate instruction for students in Kindergarten through Third Grade. The teacher reports directly to the elementary principals and coordinates concerts, facilities, and curriculum. The role requires adherence to all expectations and requirements outlined in the job description.
Responsibilities- Model a committed Christian faith and minister to the spiritual needs of students and the school community.
- Educate students consistently with Christian tenets, integrating faith into all curricula and programming.
- Teach a biblical worldview that is embedded in all activities.
- Lead and inspire academic, spiritual, and emotional growth of students.
- Be available to lead staff devotionals and prayer meetings.
- Maintain professional standards and coordinate vocal music classes for elementary levels.
- Integrate movement, instruments, and active participation, building relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Assess student growth, provide feedback, and help students recognize music as worship and expression.
- Organize and conduct music programs, including four concerts per year, and manage equipment and scheduling.
- Coordinate volunteers and assist in supervising collaborative activities.
- Communicate promptly with principals and administrative staff regarding absences or substitutions.
- Obtain prior approval for music program purchases and perform other duties as assigned.
- Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
- Committed Christian with demonstrated spiritual growth.
- Strong alignment with CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Commitment.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on CRISTA Ministries.
- Possession of values aligned with CRISTA leadership.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Vocal Music, Elementary Education, or related field.
- Teaching elementary students preferred.
- Maintain professional certification and endorsements as required by King’s Schools and the State of Washington.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Training.
- Microsoft Suite, including Teams and Office 365.
- Follow employee handbook procedures and residents’ rights policies.
- Dependable and punctual attendance.
- Pass background checks per WAC 388‑113.
- Functional English communication skills.
- Interaction with a wide variety of people, including elderly and families.
- Problem‑solving, multitasking, and discretionary judgment.
- Collaborative work with supervisor, coworkers, and residents.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience with the Kodaly method is preferred.
- Teaching Certificate.
- Proficiency with One Drive and FACTS.
