The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher will play a vital role in supporting English language learners. They will foster a positive, Christ‑centered learning environment, model Christian values, and help students engage academically and culturally within King’s multicultural community.
Essential Functions Christ‑Centered Leadership and Education- Model a committed Christian faith and minister to the spiritual needs of students and the school community.
- Educate students through curricula that integrate Christian faith and a biblical worldview.
- Teach a biblical worldview integrated into all curriculum and activities.
- Show knowledge of the Bible and apply a biblical worldview to subject matter and school activities.
- Lead and inspire academic, spiritual, and emotional growth of students through godly leadership.
- Lead staff devotionals and staff prayer as needed.
- Model a personal Christian faith that aligns with CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Commitment.
- Minister to students’ spiritual needs and nurture a vibrant Christian faith community.
- Support students’ spiritual needs through relationship building and personal modeling.
- Lead prayer meetings.
- Instruct and support students’ spiritual formation.
- Develop and implement ELL curriculum, including instructional delivery, curriculum design, and assessment strategies tailored to student language proficiency levels.
- Use scaffolding strategies to improve comprehension and reduce anxiety.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to determine language proficiency and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Foster a compassionate and culturally responsive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds.
- Provide ELL teaching support for grades 7-12.
- Maintain open, Christ‑like communication with students, the International Student Program Director, and colleagues, providing progress updates and support.
- Deliver individualized or small‑group instruction to develop speaking and writing skills.
- Collaborate with the International Student Program Director, Junior High, and High School teachers to integrate language skills into broader curriculum and develop Individualized Language Development Plans (ILDPs).
- Stay current with best practices in ELL instruction and language acquisition; engage in approved professional development opportunities.
- Use data and assessment results to track and report students’ language development progress.

- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree, or a master’s degree in education.
- Three years of teaching experience, or a master’s degree in education and two years of teaching experience.
- Current state or provincial teacher certification, or a TESOL certification/endorsement.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and related applications.
- Available for shift work in an international boarding facility as needed.
- Ability to pass background checks per DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions.
- Master’s degree in TESOL.
