A)-$84,528(Step L)/yr, depending on years of experience*
Salary is set by WA Office of Financial Management and is not negotiable. Salary listed is inclusive of King County Pay Premium
* Step M at $86,568 is attainable for those who have 6 consecutive years working in a WA State institution

Supporting a vibrant campus community comprised of approximately 4,000 students/quarter, and 750 employees across the year, the HR Office serves as an integral component of College operations. Focused on meeting the needs of both employees and the College, Human Resources is responsible for managing employee recruitment/hiring, compensation/benefits, evaluation/training, and engagement/retention activities.
Working under the general direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resource Consultant 2 serves as a critical business partner, providing consultation and assistance to managers, staff, and the public regarding human resource and business issues.
Primary responsibilities include the following:- Independently respond to inquiries from internal (other HR staff) and external (campus staff) sources regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Recommend appropriate and/or alternate courses of action within applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate HR records in the human resource information system (HRIS) and ensure data integrity across employee records, organizational hierarchy, and compensation information.
- Assist with the coordination of recruiting activities for assigned positions on campus.
- Assists with onboarding of new employees.
- Lead new hire orientations as assigned.
- Create offer letters and appointment letters for new hires.
- Follow up regarding outstanding employment documents to ensure timely completion in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
- Create/route personnel action (PA) forms for completion within payroll deadlines.
- Determine and process leave cashout amounts (vacation/sick leave) by position type in compliance with applicable College policy or collective bargaining agreements.
- Research, analyze, document and process compensation functions in compliance with the Office of Financial Management (OFM) and applicable contract regulations.
- Support performance management cycles by advising managers on goal setting, documentation, and feedback delivery.
- Represent the HR Dept within campus committee processes providing HR input and guidance.
- Work to integrate diversity, as appropriate, into all major duties including the College’s hiring policy and through collegial and collaborative work.
- Other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field; AND
- One (1) year of professional experience in a Human Resources or related field OR equivalent education/experience
- MS Office Access, Excel, Front Page, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word applications
- Enterprise resources systems such as Peoplesoft, ctcLink or equivalent.
- Compensation/payroll processes, and operating under a collective bargaining agreement
- Effective oral and written communication; effective customer service techniques
- Researching and providing documentation-based suggestions using various types of informational resources
- Fostering a climate of belonging through awareness and responsiveness
- Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities
- Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems
- Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within college & legal guidelines
- Ability to remain calm and adapt to changing conditions or needs within the department due to emergent situations
