Director of Technology POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Technology provides district wide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and oversight of instructional and operational technology systems in alignment with the District’s mission, vision, goals, and Instructional Strategic Plan. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations/Superintendent (or designee), the Director ensures reliable, secure, and equitable access to technology that supports teaching, learning, and efficient district operations. This role collaborates closely with instructional leadership to promote effective technology integration, culturally responsive practices, and alignment with state and national standards.
The Director of Technology oversees technology infrastructure, digital platforms, service delivery, budgeting, staff supervision, vendor relationships, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, while providing strategic guidance to district leadership and the School Board on technology initiatives and priorities.
- Establishes and leads Technology Department priorities, initiatives, and services with the District’s mission, vision, goals, and Instructional Strategic Plan.
- Provides district wide leadership to anticipate emerging needs and ensure high-performing, reliable technology services for schools, departments, and the broader educational community.
- Leads the adoption and implementation of industry-standard best practices, methodologies, tools, and programs.
- Ensures district awareness of and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and legal requirements related to technology use, data privacy, and information security.
- Collaborates with the Instruction Department, Teaching and Learning, district administrators, and principals to support student learning through effective, equitable, and consistent technology integration.
- Communicates the District’s vision and goals related to teaching, learning, and instructional technology to staff, families, and the community.
- Identifies, evaluates, and promotes the use of technology to support educational best practices, culturally responsive instruction, and the diverse academic, social, and accessibility needs of students.
- Aligns district instructional technology initiatives with state and national standards and frameworks for technology literacy.
- Leads and supports district wide professional learning to promote effective and consistent use of technology by all staff.
- Provides leadership and oversight for the planning, implementation, distribution, maintenance, and lifecycle management of district technology platforms, systems, and devices.
- Oversees mission-critical infrastructure and systems, including directory services, servers, archival and custom applications, cloud‑based collaboration tools, and business systems used across central office and school sites.
- Ensures the implementation, maintenance, reliability, and security of district technology systems and digital environments.
- Oversees the technology service desk and support functions to ensure timely, effective technical assistance for students and staff.
- Plans and manages large‑scale technology deployments and equipment distribution and collection.
- Systematically plans for and implements new and improved technology solutions that maximize district resources and leverage external services and partnerships.
- Develops and maintains multi‑year and annual technology action plans that translate strategic priorities into sequenced projects, including defined timelines, responsibilities, milestones, and implementation cycles.
- Coordinates the selection, feedback, implementation, and training processes for new district technology systems and digital tools.
