Position Summary
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) plays a crucial role in World Concern’s overall fundraising strategy, focusing on major gift fundraising and planned giving. The MGO will identify and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors, steward donors through the major giving process, and provide personalized attention, appreciation, and spiritual guidance. The goal is to move donors into larger commitments by aligning them with World Concern’s mission and programs.
EssentialFunctions
- Manage a portfolio of 120 donors giving $10,000+ and high‑capacity prospects, securing major gifts from $10K to $1M and identifying potential higher‑level donors.
- Cultivate new and expanded relationships through a strategic moves management process.
- Ensure each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Meet annual fundraising and performance goals.
- Contact a targeted number of donors each week and month; document all communication in Salesforce.
- Travel locally, out‑of‑state, and out‑of‑country to engage donors.
- Share new marketing materials and field updates that match donors’ interests and commitment levels.
- Understand World Concern’s work at a basic level to communicate giving opportunities effectively.
- Participate as a team member of Resource Advancement and Donor Relations, engaging in meetings, prayer, devotions, and other opportunities.
- Coordinate donor contacts with Marketing to keep them donor‑centric.
- Support World Concern events.
- Generate reports from Salesforce as needed.
- Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith, and Christian Community Representative Commitment.

- Committed Christian dedicated to spiritual growth (daily prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).

- Affirms CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement.
- Conducts oneself in a manner that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries.
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university; relevant work experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Experience: 5–7 years of nonprofit fundraising with individuals and major donors.
- Software / Equipment Knowledge:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Salesforce or other donor CRM
- Other Considerations: Ability to pass background checks related to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions (WAC 388‑113).
- 10+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with individuals and major donors.
- Certified Fund‑Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
