Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps people get jobs across Northwest Washington by offering free job training, education, and placement. It operates 23 retail stores and multiple training centers throughout the region.

About the Position

The Retail Supervisor assists the management team in daily store operations, supervising retail associates, and ensuring excellent customer service.

Pay Rate: $23.97/hour

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assign, guide, coach and train employees while performing the work of a Sales Associate as needed.
  • Complete retail operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees.
  • Set expectations, instruct, coach and identify training needs.
  • Maintain orderly operations of the store in the absence of the Manager and Assistant.
  • Resolve workplace problems to improve employee performance and productivity.
  • Ensure excellent customer and donor service.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, documenting and summarizing information.
  • Complete projects by planning, organizing and monitoring assignments.
  • Promote productivity by following up with employees on work results.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and report hazards or accidents.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, monitoring performance, rewarding, disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Partners with People Relations as needed.

Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalency (not required).
  • 2 years retail experience with POS systems.
  • 2 years customer service/retail experience.
  • 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

Skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software related to the job.
Physical Abilities

Lifting and carrying 30-40 pounds; fine motor control; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing, climbing ladders; ability to operate computer systems; communicate effectively both verbally and written, including limited English speakers; maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment

Exposure to noise levels consistent with a retail environment; flexible schedule required.
