Preschool Site Director - Early Childhood (YMCA in Shoreview) (Education)
The YMCA Early Childhood Learning Center is seeking a caring Site Director to join our Shoreview Preschool team. This year round, Monday-Friday role with the hours of 6:45-9:45 am, offers opportunities for professional growth, benefits, a free family YMCA membership, and more!
The salary range for this position is $17.57 - $23.42 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
1.Job Summary
The Preschool Site Director is responsible for assisting the Child Care Program Director with the overall operations of a YMCA childcare program providing quality experiences for children that focus on the core values: equity, honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring of the YMCA.
2. Essential Functions- Supports equity and inclusion in all aspects of program
- Work hands on daily to meet ratios
- Manage all classrooms ensuring compliance with policies and licensing guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the program curriculum and activities.
- Practice continuous quality improvement, evaluating programs, and implementing changes as needed.
- Develop and distribute parent communications, including weekly lesson plans, monthly calendars and quarterly newsletters.
- Ensure that observations and evaluations of each child are completed.
- Maintain required records and files.
- Work with lead teachers to ensure proper staffing and ratios within the program at all times.
- Assist the Child Care Program Director in reaching enrollment and revenue goals.
- May hire and supervise staff.
- Assist with the promotion of the branch and preschool programs to the community.
- Maintains CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.
- Assist in managing all classrooms at the center and ensuring compliance with YMCA policies and procedures including MN DHS Rule 3, Wisconsin HFS
46 and NAEYC Accreditation Standards and Parent Aware as applicable. - Participate in planning and implementing regular in-service training and professional days.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
- May provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, lifting, writing, feeding, and getting in or out of transportation.
- May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the child care environment
- Ability to participate in all indoor and outdoor activities
This position reports to the Child Care Program Director. The incumbent interacts with participants, parents, and staff. This position involves working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
4. QualificationsRequired:
- Education in child development, child guidance, human relations, or recreational programs and/or equivalent experience.
- Excellent skills in planning activities for various ages, staff supervision and development, communication, organization, and human relations.
- Minimum age of 21
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
- Commitment to working with children in an educational setting and a sincere desire to Support successful learners
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Education or experience in child development, child guidance, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
