The Assistant Teacher will support the work of the lead teacher by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the Montessori-prepared classroom environment and interaction with the students. Duties include supervision of students across both indoor and outdoor settings.

This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, Monday-Friday, throughout the 10-month school year, with the potential option of summer hours. The assistant’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Partner with students, teachers and parents to nurture and assess, and support student development in all areas (social, emotional, cognitive, physical & moral) through in person check-ins, conferences and written reports
- Conduct screenings and assessments to ascertain which students may need additional support; tracking student progress accordingly (if candidate is appropriately qualified)
- Provide one-on-one and small group sessions for students as needed to support students’ development in various domains, including socio-affective, executive functioning, and reading
- Provide Montessori-style support in the classroom when necessary
- Attend parent meetings with the Lead Teacher as needed
- Record students’ progress
- Ensure that the environments outside the classroom that are used for learning support are beautiful and inviting spaces for students and that equipment is well-maintained
- Model integrity, curiosity, and respect
- Attend staff meetings and trainings, as required
- Help to develop and participate in parent education events
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a 2 years working with elementary age children
- Training in, or ability and willingness to be trained in, the Montessori Philosophy of Education
- MN Substitute Teaching license, or ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training in or knowledge of the Montessori Philosophy of Education
- Desire to assist students of all ability levels in a learning environment
- Associate degree or at least 60 credits of post secondary education in any field
