Job Description
Oak Hill Montessori Community School is seeking a Music Teacher who possesses the skills and experience to teach in a Montessori setting and the abilities necessary to implement our school’s Mission. The Music Teacher is responsible for creating learning goals for children that support our inquiry and Music developmental program for children with an emphasis on Music provided for Preschool through Grade 8.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, with typical on-site between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, M-F, throughout the 10 month school year. The Music Teacher’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate music lessons spanning vocal, instrumental, and general music for diverse learners.
- Teach students how to play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, individually and in groups. Cover fundamental techniques, embouchure, posture, and sight-reading.
- Observe, document, and celebrate each child's development while tailoring lessons to individual needs, interests, and learning styles.
- Organize, rehearse, and conduct school concerts, plays and seasonal programs.
- Supervise students effectively, ensuring a supportive and respectful learning environment.
- Align lesson plans with state academic standards, incorporating music history, theory, and diverse cultural traditions.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or related field
- Valid Minnesota Teaching license
- Previous experience teaching music and band, particularly at the elementary or middle school level.

- ORF Training
- Strong proficiency in playing at least one primary instrument, with a working knowledge of multiple instruments.
- Strong vocal skills and/or ability to play multiple instruments (including piano, guitar, and classroom percussion).

We serve children 16 months through 8th grade with our lower school being tuition based, and upper school being tuition-free.
