Position: Teacher/ABE Adult Basic Education (.2 FTE)

ABE Teacher – Adult Learning GED/College Prep Instructor (Science)

Work Schedule: Evenings – 1 night per week, 5 hours total including prep, Thursday nights preferred.
Pay: $42.91/hour (BA) or $43.74/hour (MA) based on the teacher labor agreement.

Qualifications
  • Valid MN K-12 teaching license
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage projects from conception to productive execution
  • Adaptability to work in a team environment, flexibility, and proficiency in multiple teaching models
  • Previous experience working with teens or adult learners in an interactive, results‑oriented environment preferred
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods based on students' strengths and weaknesses and prepare students to take the test to earn a high school equivalency credential
  • Ability to be curious, flexible, and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff
  • Digital literacy skills required, including integration of digital literacy into the student learning experience
Responsibilities
  • Lesson planning and instruction, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and integrating technology into learning
  • Align instruction to MN ABE Content Standards (CCRS, ACES/TIF, Northstar Digital Literacy)
  • Analyze student needs and assess progress with CASAS assessments
  • Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles
  • Provide for individual as well as group learning
  • Responsible for record keeping for class and for accurately recording attendance, student progress, reasons for leaving the program
  • Participate in staff meetings as assigned by coordinator
  • Maintain levels of training criteria established by MDE ABE
