Work Schedule

Preparation work begins in the spring until the start of ESY. Hours worked are determined by the ESY Site Leader in consultation with the Director of Student Services. The ESY program runs July 6 - July 31 (Monday - Thursday).

$3,600 stipend.

Required Qualifications

Must hold a valid MN license in the area of special education teacher, school psychologist, or speech language pathologist.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct preliminary coordination of ESY services for Summer 2025 starting in April 2025.
  • Contact/clarify with referring case managers as to scope of individual plans prior to May 2nd.
  • Manage hiring for ESY Employees at your site.
  • Meet with ESY Site building principal to discuss service details and logistics of summer program and facility usage.
  • Determine grouping for instruction as appropriate.
  • Assign para educator support based on needs identified in the IEP.
  • Collaborate with Due Process Assistants and Transportation Department Director of Transportation to ensure all transportation needs to and from ESY.
    • Confirm transportation and service providers of upcoming start of services 1 week prior to start of service.
  • Send letters to parents to include:
    • process to address absence of student/provider (transportation to be notified at least 24 hours in advance)
    • parents are to notify case managers of scheduled vacations prior to the start of ESY.
  • Meet with providers and set parameters for data collection and billing for services.
  • Delegate “supervision” activities to other certified ESY providers as needed (breakfast, recess, arrival/dismissal).
  • Maintain regular hours on-site at ESY.
  • Supervise delivery of services for students receiving ESY services.
  • Be available for providers to contact with concerns/questions.
  • Collect/sign as supervisor all time/mileage sheets.
  • Respond to parent contacts regarding ESY services.
  • Refer concerns to SPED Coordinator as needed.
  • Coordinate access to curricular resources for staff.
  • Ensure progress reports are completed by ESY teachers (using data collected during the sessions).
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Supervise breakfast and lunch to ensure compliance with nutrition services.
