Job Overview
Fairview Pharmacy Services is looking for Pharmacy Technicians to join our float department. The role involves working across 23 different retail locations, providing services to a diverse clientele and enjoying many growth opportunities within the organization.
Floating Incentives- No weekends required

Location:
Seven Lakes Pharmacy, Shoreview MN
Hours:
80 hours bi‑weekly
Schedule:
Day/evening, no weekend requirement
- Receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information per department policy. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring, and labeling prescriptions.
- Verify insurance and resolve issues in a manner that will serve the customer’s needs. Address third party prescription questions, including prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price check and drug utilization review.
- Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately, including entering refill authorization requests and calculating complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system. Utilize the reporting system as necessary. Process manual prescriptions including EZ‑DME, breast pumps and Worker’s Compensation efficiently and accurately.
- Complete special orders to meet customers’ needs.
- Respond to internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and customer‑focused manner.
- Handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the manager, including scheduling, maintaining pharmacy software and automation systems, bookkeeping activities, onsite training of staff and acting as a primary resource for problem solving.
- Perform under the direction of the Pharmacist to assist with identifying and resolving patient specific medication related issues in the patient’s best interest.
- Provide training to new and current staff on areas of expertise including computer/software, insurance plans and problems that may occur, customer service, and other processes.
- Under the direction of the pharmacist, prepare drug therapy for patients accurately and timely in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies, and Fairview Policy.
- Deliver medications, supplies and equipment to patient care areas and other clinical areas as appropriate.
- Assist in the maintenance of pharmacy to reflect a clean and well‑stocked condition daily.
- Ensure each product has a POS shelf label.
- Assist in inventory control functions.
- Record invoices in department inventory control/invoice records.
- Maintain stock of inventory in assigned areas.
- Receive, unpack, and check incoming stock against invoices and place into inventory.
- Process recalls and returns when necessary.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
- Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making.
- Communicates in a respective manner.
- Ensures a safe, secure environment.
- Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs.
- Modifies clinical interventions based on population served.
- Provides patient education based on assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.
- Fulfills all organizational requirements.
- Completes all required learning relevant to the role.
- Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards.
- Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
- Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program.
- One to three years retail and/or pharmacy experience.
