Calibration / Metrology Technician III – Mounds View, Minnesota

As a member of the Global Calibration Services – US Midwest region, you will support calibration of test, inspection, and measurement equipment across the Twin Cities and provide worldwide impact through accurate metrology. You will work in the Electrical Metrology Laboratory, performing calibration and measurement tasks with limited supervision.

• Perform calibrations and measurements traceable to NIST and the International System of Units (SI) using appropriately maintained reference standards.
• Calibrate and inspect a range of equipment from general‑purpose electrical devices to custom test systems, covering AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, inductance, frequency, time, power, and energy.
• Document calibration results in the calibration tracking database using validated templates or test point grids, and issue Out of Tolerance (OOT) or Non‑conformance (NC) reports as appropriate.
• Provide in‑lab and on‑site calibration support for equipment that is too sensitive or large to relocate.
• Interact with equipment‑owning engineers and technicians to schedule calibrations, select test and measurement equipment, and lead others in following documented procedures.
• Create and modify calibration procedures by reviewing manufacturer’s manuals, laboratory methods, system requirements, and approved documentation.
• Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair test and measurement equipment for new and existing projects.
• Work overtime as needed to support high‑priority requests or meet project goals.
• Share knowledge and mentor lower‑level technicians and department personnel.
• Travel to other Medtronic sites up to 20 miles as required.

• 4+ years of relevant technical experience (combination of practical experience, training, education, or certification).
• Complete and broad knowledge of systems, techniques, tools, and procedures typically obtained through prior related work experience, training, and/or education.
• 2+ years of electronic calibration‑related technical school training (60 semester credits) or equivalent military education such as PMEL.
• ASQ Certified Calibration Technician experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of calibration and measurement principles: measurement uncertainty, traceability, standards, test uncertainty/accuracy ratios, measurement system analysis (MSA), SI units, calibration intervals, out‑of‑tolerance reporting.
• Proficiency in equipment set‑up, troubleshooting, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Windows OS, Minitab or other statistical analysis software, and Indy Soft or other calibration tracking database software.
• Ability to prioritize and execute daily tasks and long‑term objectives, self‑prioritizing and managing work requests.
• Familiarity with NIST, BIPM, NCSL, ASTM, ASME, or other organizations related to metrology, and with FDA 21

  820 cGMP, ISO 13485, ISO 10012, and ISO 17025 regulations.
• Strong math, statistics, and physics background; experience with MS Excel spreadsheet template development and validation testing.
• Experience with DMAIC problem‑solving, medical device or other regulated industries, and strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Organized, efficient, process‑oriented, interpersonal, self‑motivated, team‑player, strong work ethic, works well under pressure in a dynamic environment; exercises independent judgment and discretion with professional presentation.
• For non‑U.S. Baccalaureate degrees, a degree satisfying 8C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

• Salary range (USD): $59,600.00 – $89,400.00.
