Do you love working with people? The Shorewood-Troy Library is looking for a full-time Circulation Services Assistant to be part of our Customer Service Team. This position pays $19.00 an hour, provides great benefits, and is full-time (40 hours per week). It will require days, some nights, and occasional Saturdays. The Circulation Services Assistant is responsible:
- Providing a great customer service experience for our patrons
- Checking in and out items
- Handling Interlibrary Loan through OCLC World Share
- Empowered to solve circulation department issues in the absence of the Manager
- Serving as a Passport Agent (training provided by the Library)
- Call-transferring to departments
- Assisting patrons with computer questions, basic reference questions, and providing support to readers
- Other duties as assigned
- A high school diploma/GED
- Library experience, with a Library Technical Assistant’s certificate preferred
- Knowledge of standard library circulation procedures
- Knowledge of Polaris is preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills and approach
- The ability to speak Spanish fluently is a plus
Normal office skills, such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office products, phone skills, reliable transportation to work, the ability to push a fully loaded book cart (approximately 75 pounds), the ability to stand for long periods of time, and the ability to lift 25 pounds, are also required.
The salary for the position is $19.00 hourly ($1,520 biweekly; $39,520 annually). Benefits include:
- 4 weeks of paid vacation time annually (160 hours; pro-rated first year)
- 12 sick days annually, earned as you work (96 hours, can accumulate to 320 hours)
- 2 days of personal leave after one year of employment.
- Participation in one of the three employer-offered health insurance plans (a low-deductible PPO, a high-deductible PPO, and an HMO). The Library pays 80% of the cost of the lowest-cost health plan (currently the high-deductible PPO); the opportunity to buy family coverage at cost is also available.
Participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, a defined benefit pension fund.
