* This Associate Technician role is an on-site position based in Shorewood, IL with a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The position is offered on a temporary basis with an opportunity for permanent employment depending on performance and operational needs. The primary focus of the role is to work in one or more areas of surface coating or finish as assigned within a production environment, following established Standard Operating Procedures and safety guidelines.
The work is largely repetitive, requires attention to detail, and involves limited analysis and independent judgment. Supervision ranges from close to general, depending on assignment and experience, and the role includes working with specialized tools, machinery, and small components in line with defined quality and production standards.

** What You Will Do?*
* + Perform finish operations including tray up, beveling, mounting lenses in standard frames, drilling and mounting lenses into specialty frames, and roll and polish tasks following established Standard Operating Procedures.
+ Prepare uncut lenses for the edging process, accurately tint lenses in the tinting department, and inspect lenses and frames to confirm they meet optical and cosmetic quality standards before release.
+ Carry out surface department activities including blocking and taping lens blanks for automation, monitoring automated surfacing equipment to keep machines loaded, and clearing errors to maintain continuous production.
+ Operate as a polisher and deblocker by running polishing equipment, removing blocking systems, washing lenses, and inspecting for cosmetic defects, following defined safety and quality requirements at all times.
+ Support AR-coating operations by scanning and sorting jobs for scratch and anti-reflective treatments, clipping and cleaning lenses, loading lenses into holders, and monitoring AR and scratch coat machines for proper operation.
+ Perform AR hard coat inspection by checking lenses for cosmetic defects after scratch coat application, and conduct tests on scratch coating baths to verify that all parameters remain within established specifications.
+ Operate and maintain tools and machinery associated with assigned tasks, inspect small parts for defects, and assemble small components using hand tools with precision and close attention to detail.
+ Work to measurable production and quality standards by maintaining required output levels, meeting accuracy expectations, and performing all tasks using correct techniques as defined by company procedures.
+ Comply with all safety policies, company training requirements, and governing body regulations while maintaining regular and prompt attendance and being available for overtime work when operationally needed.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned within the production environment, adapting to different stations or processes while maintaining consistent quality and adherence to documented procedures.
** Your Skills*
* + Ability to perform technical troubleshooting within assigned production processes, identifying basic issues with tools or machinery and escalating problems according to established procedures when necessary.
+ Experience or aptitude in equipment maintenance sufficient to operate, clean, and perform routine care on production tools and machinery in line with documented safety and maintenance guidelines.
+ Demonstrated focus on quality control, including inspecting lenses, frames, and small parts for optical and cosmetic defects and ensuring that all finished products meet specified standards before release.
+ Capability to follow technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures accurately, applying written instructions and process steps consistently across repetitive tasks in different departments.
+ Strong communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and team members, report issues or defects clearly, and follow verbal directions in a structured production environment.
+ Proven teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a production setting, rotate between tasks when required, and support colleagues to meet shared output and quality goals.
+ Ability to use English effectively, including reading instructions, safety information, and production documentation, and communicating in spoken English within the workplace as required.
