Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) PM SHIFT 3PM 11PM Shift Diff

Shift Information

PM Shift 3pm – 11pm (every other weekend, Saturdays and Sundays required). Plus $1.50 shift differential.

Job Summary

Provides residents with daily nursing care in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies and direct direction from the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing or Administrator to ensure high‑quality care at all times. Duties include assistance with activities of daily living, care plan development and implementation, monitoring vital signs and skin condition, and maintaining a warm, safe, and calm environment.

Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a nursing arts course in an accredited nurse training program (diploma, certificate or equivalent verification) and completion of the department‑approved nursing assistant competency evaluation, or successful completion of a U.S. military training program that includes Basic Nursing Assistant Training content.
  • Minimum age of 16, with temperate habits, good moral character, honesty, reliability, and trustworthiness.
  • Evidence of employment or occupation and residence for two years prior to initial employment as a nursing assistant, if applicable.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Current CPR certificate or obtainable within two weeks of employment.
  • Interest and/or knowledge in caring for the ill, disabled, and elderly; ability to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, and personnel.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
  • Capacity to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Willingness and ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Personable, enthusiastic, and personable demeanor.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing or use suitable prosthetics to meet job requirements.
  • Must function independently, exhibit flexibility, personal integrity, and effectiveness with residents, visitors, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, young, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
  • May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the day.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis

Essential Functions
  • Ensure all nursing procedures and protocols are followed according to established policies, including dress code.
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living to a specific number of residents or as directed by the staff nurse.
  • Assist in developing written care plans for each resident identifying problems/needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in resident care plan conferences, Resident Council, and/or Family Council when invited.
  • Report all concerns or complaints from residents or families to the Administrator.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure resident safety and comfort.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, sustaining a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Participate in in‑service education programs.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program for new staff, covering facility, department, policies, and procedures.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
  • Inventory and store residents' personal possessions; assist with packing at room transfers or discharges.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports upon reporting for duty.
  • Maintain intake and output records; monitor bowel movements and stool characteristics.
  • Make occupied and unoccupied beds, change linens, straighten rooms, closets, and drawers; notify housekeeping for mattress cleaning or replacement.
  • Answer call lights promptly; answer telephone calls and run errands as requested.
  • Obtain vital signs: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, heights and weights as needed.
