Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Ambulatory Surgery Center OR - Days

$10,000 Sign On Bonus for offers accepted by May 31, 2026. Terms and conditions apply.

Responsibilities
  • Master clinical skills and apply this knowledge to a specific patient population.
  • Assist the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
  • Recognize changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Mobilize resources to meet the individualized needs of patient/families.
  • Provide direction, education, and assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
  • Deliver and accurately document direct, age‑specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan of care.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Licensure, Certification, and Registration
  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
Experience
  • Clinical Nurse I:
    None required.
  • Clinical Nurse II: 12 to 24 months RN experience.
  • Clinical Nurse III: 3 years of clinical experience.
Education
  • Required:

    Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state's Board of Nursing.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within five years unless grandfathered.
  • Preferred:
    Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program; for Clinical Nurse III, certification in a specialty area.
Independent Actions and Practice Boundaries
  • Follow documented physician or licensed provider orders.
  • Practice within the regulations governing nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia and guided by the ANA Code of Ethics and established national nursing standards.
  • Follow all VCUHS policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Organize work and delegate and supervise other staff (RN, LPN, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments.

Position Requirements
  • Clinician’s work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Shift rotation and schedules will be established with the Nurse Manager and may be adjusted as necessary.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and repetitive motions.
  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, and legible writing.
  • Ability to handle a fast‑paced environment and multiple priorities.
