Position SummaryThe High School Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors. This position requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced school environment. The receptionist provides administrative support, maintains security procedures, manages student office aides, and ensures smooth daily operations in the front office.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in an office or school setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and student information systems.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of school operations and procedures is a plus.
- Ability to effectively manage and mentor student office aides.
- Greet and assist students, parents, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Monitor and enforce school visitor procedures, including sign-in and identification badge distribution.
- Distribute mail, packages, and internal communications to staff.
- Maintain an organized and efficient front office environment.
- Assist with attendance tracking by collecting and recording student attendance data.
- Maintain school records, filing systems, and student information databases as required.
- Provide administrative support, including drafting correspondence, making copies, and scheduling appointments.
- Support emergency procedures by following school safety protocols and assisting in drills.
- Assist with student check-in and check-out processes as needed.
- Coordinate with faculty and staff to support school events, meetings, and daily operations.
- Serve as a point of contact for students needing assistance in the front office.
- Manage student office aides by assigning and monitoring daily tasks, ensuring professional behavior, and holding them accountable for appropriate attire and conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or school administration to support school operations.
- Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate documents, records, and office equipment.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs., such as boxes of office supplies.
- Work is primarily performed in a school office environment with interaction with students, staff, and visitors.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a busy school setting.
