The Physical Education (PE) Teacher promotes lifelong fitness, wellness, and healthy lifestyles by providing engaging, standards-aligned physical education instruction. This position develops and implements lessons that build physical skills, teamwork, and personal responsibility while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
Appropriate certification in Physical Education
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement daily lessons aligned with Arizona Physical Education Standards and district curriculum.
Promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits.
Provide instruction in a variety of physical activities, games, and fitness programs that meet the needs and abilities of all students.
Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment in gymnasiums, fields, and outdoor spaces.
Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to ensure student safety; report maintenance needs promptly.
Adapt activities and provide appropriate modifications for students with special needs or health limitations.
Assess student progress in motor skills, physical fitness, and personal/social responsibility using appropriate assessment tools.
Communicate expectations, rules, and procedures clearly to support positive student behavior.
Use district and state assessment data to inform instruction and student goal setting.
Incorporate technology and current best practices to enhance instruction and student engagement.
Participate in site-based intervention processes, data reviews, and team meetings.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, fitness assessments, and equipment inventory.
Supervise students to ensure safety during classes, transitions, and school-sponsored events.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district wellness initiatives.
Support school-wide programs, events, and committees as assigned by the principal or supervisor.

Physical RequirementsPositions in this classification typically require standing, running, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions. Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move equipment or assist students.
