Overview

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients navigating mental health challenges. As a Behavioral Health RN within our dedicated 12‑bed unit, you will provide compassionate, high‑standard care primarily to adult and geriatric psychiatric populations. You will lead the way in comprehensive patient assessments and medication management, working alongside a supportive team to foster a safe, healing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough psychiatric and physical assessments to monitor patient progress and identify changes in status.
  • Safely administer and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for therapeutic effects and potential side effects.
  • Facilitate or assist with group therapy sessions to encourage patient engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Act as a primary advocate for patients, ensuring their rights are protected and their individualized care plans are followed.
  • Work closely with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and the interdisciplinary team to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu for all patients.
  • Utilize de‑escalation techniques and clinical judgment to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure the safety of the unit.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1‑2 years of professional nursing experience (Psych/Behavioral Health experience preferred).
  • Active Arizona (AZ) or Compact Nursing License.
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in psychiatric nursing, medication management, and patient assessment.
  • Experience or interest in Geriatric Psychiatry, as the unit goal is to focus on patients aged 55 and over.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead therapeutic groups.
  • Comfort working in a specialized 12‑bed unit with a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio.
