Labor & Delivery RN
Responsible for providing nursing care in labor and delivery. Unit consists of 7 labor and delivery beds and 2 triage beds. Average of 1-3 births per day with approximately 830 births per year. Ratios are typically 1 nurse to 2 patients. Must be able to manage OB emergencies until a provider arrives. May float to other units as needed. Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians and Health Unit Secretaries.
Nurse manager occasionally sees patients if required. OB/Neonatologist is not in-house. A pharmacy is available 24/7 on-site. Weekend shifts are required, with a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks. Call requirement is one shift every 4-week schedule. Experience caring for patients in couplet care is beneficial. Must demonstrate strong assessment skills in a high-risk environment.
