Responsible for maintaining a safe environment of care by enforcing hospital policies, rules, and regulations in order to protect life, health, and property.

Responsibilities
  • Protects life and property from fire, theft, damage, and trespass.
  • Interacts with disruptive and combative individuals in a safe manner.
  • Makes patrols throughout the building and grounds that are consistent with department goals and metrics.
  • Completes a daily duty log that is thorough and accurate.
  • Operates the fire panel control board.
  • Monitors the security camera system for unusual events and activities.
  • Maintains order and aids other staff as needed.
  • Reports building and equipment failures promptly to the appropriate individuals/departments.
  • Directs foot traffic in the buildings and vehicle traffic on the grounds.
  • Enforces hospital policies, rules, and regulations with courtesy.
  • Completes thorough electronic incident reports (RL) as required, specifically regarding unusual happenings, suspicious activity, and hazardous conditions.
  • Prepares incident reports as necessary for supplemental purposes in support of our law enforcement partners.
  • Provides escort services for visitors and staff.
  • Provides access control as appropriate to sensitive areas within the building.
  • Responds to panic button notifications within the building.
  • Interacts with visitors and/or patients and provides directions and assistance as required.
  • Proficient in radio communications protocol.
  • Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards.
  • Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
  • Proficient in security camera digital recording retrieval and storage.
  • Reports evidence of fire, safety issues, and hazards promptly and responds to minimize damage and assists staff in evacuation of patients and visitors as necessary.
  • Protects the integrity of the organization, physicians, patients, and employees by maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • Makes written reports as required, specifically regarding unusual happenings, suspicious activity, and hazardous conditions.
  • Conducts building and grounds hazard surveillance surveys on a periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures.
Other Duties
  • Works closely with the security dispatch center.
  • Coordinates communications with Police and Fire Departments.
  • Provides assistance to personnel in the Plant Services as needed.
  • Assists in assembling the temporary decontamination tent.
  • Helps maintain a clean and organized work space.
  • Maintains a clean uniform and well-groomed appearance.
  • Participates in departmental and association-wide informational meetings and in services, including staff meetings, association-wide forums, and seminars.
  • Reviews department and association-wide policies and procedures annually.
  • Obtains and maintains BLS/CPR certification.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with local law enforcement agencies and fire departments.
  • Provides assistance as needed to the Maintenance Director and hospital administration.
  • Assists with internal investigations at the request of the director, including interviewing involved persons and pulling video footage of incidents.
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
