The Facilities Maintenance Technician II performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks involving the general maintenance of hospital equipment and systems. Duties may include installing plumbing fixtures, replacing lighting fixtures, repairing hospital beds, drywall and painting repairs, repairing access control readers and door operators, cutting keys, testing electrical circuits, installation and repair of ceiling grids, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC issues, troubleshooting and repairing boiler and hot water heater problems, repairing and replacing pumps/motors and performing preventative maintenance on HVAC, boiler, and generator and fire pump systems.
May be required to work nights and weekends on a 24/7 shift schedule.
- Repairs and maintains hospital facilities equipment/systems.
- Assists in the moving and remodeling of departments as needed.
- Patching and painting.
- Metal framing.
- Drywall and finishing.
- Small scale commercial remodel.
- Rotating on call duties, including maintaining the proper operation of the hospital boilers and hot water heaters, HVAC system, cold water chiller system, and access control system.
- Changing door lock cores and cutting new keys.
- Repairs hospital beds and gurneys.
- Performs daily rounding to identify repairs needed.
- Assists other departments in emergency situations.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment/systems.
- Participates in departmental and hospital wide informational meetings and services, including staff meetings, hospital wide forums, and seminars.
- Reviews department and hospital wide policies and procedures annually.
- Knowledge of general office equipment and hospital programs.
- Excellent computer, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, supervisory, interpersonal skills, basic math skills, and ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Knowledge of hospital equipment and programs, including all Hospital Information Systems and department specific equipment.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, and extensive computer work.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5–8 years related experience.
Education and Experience
- Certification in plumbing and electrical repairs and troubleshooting, boiler maintenance, drywall/texture repair, welding, heavy equipment operation.
Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.
This is a safety sensitive position.
