Forensic Interviewer & MDT Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Family Advocacy Center Director, the Forensic Interviewer & MDT Coordinator conducts legally defensible forensic interviews of children, vulnerable adults, and qualifying victims or witnesses using trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate practices. The position coordinates the Navajo County Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), supports Family Advocacy Center operations, assists with National Children's Alliance (NCA) standards, maintains multidisciplinary protocols, coordinates training and peer review, and promotes collaboration among partner agencies.

The position conducts approximately 150 forensic interviews annually and requires sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and strong interagency collaboration.

Knowledge of child development, trauma, abuse dynamics, forensic interviewing, NCA standards, victim rights, confidentiality, criminal justice systems, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Skill in forensic interviewing, communication, documentation, organization, critical thinking, public speaking, conflict resolution, and time management. Ability to maintain neutrality, exercise sound judgment, coordinate multidisciplinary responses, maintain confidentiality, build professional relationships, and adapt to changing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Child Development, Human Services, Education, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License.
  • Ability to pass all required background investigations.
  • Ability to obtain AFIT or other County-approved forensic interview certification within twelve months of hire and maintain required continuing education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience conducting forensic interviews or working in child advocacy, victim services, child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, or behavioral health.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams or interagency programs.
  • Knowledge of National Children's Alliance standards.
  • Experience in a Child Advocacy Center or Family Advocacy Center.
  • Experience with grant-funded programs and courtroom testimony.

Navajo County offers a comprehensive employee benefits package to regular employees working 40 hours per week that includes: (Regular Part Time employees working 30 – 39 hours a week receive some benefits on a pro-rated basis. Part Time employees working less than 30 hours a week and temporary employees do not receive benefits)
