Position Overview
We are currently looking for two (2) General Clerk / Clerical Assistants for a contract position with the Department of Justice / United States Attorney's Office (USAO) located in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is initially for a 1-year contract with 3 additional optional years (for a total of 4 years) with the USAO. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and be able to clear an extensive background check / clearance investigation by the Department of Justice.
Responsibilities- Analyze types of immigration filings and properly identify and account for deadlines and other injunctive relief.
- Update local and division-wide deadlines and documents daily, as well as docket information.
- Maintain databases/files and correspondence regarding immigration litigation compliance.
- Prepare documentation pertinent to new, current, and closing immigration cases.
- Communicate with agency staff regarding deadlines, data gathering and entry, and case details.
- Assist with full case openings for immigration cases.
At a minimum, candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of clerical / office and / or administrative support experience in a professional office environment (experience working in the legal industry is highly desirable).
EducationAt a minimum, candidates must have a Certificate or Associate's degree in office administration, paralegal studies, or a related field. In addition, candidates must have at least one year of experience in clerical, office, or administrative support services.
NOTE: A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the one year of experience.
The right candidate must be skilled in the Microsoft Office suite, document management, and data entry. They will have solid organizational skills; top-notch time management skills; a streamlined and polished communication style (both oral and written); meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to remain calm and poised at all times.
Additional InformationThis is a full time / 40 hours per week position. Candidates will be working onsite each day. This position offers the accrual of 2 weeks of paid time off each year, paid federal holidays and is eligible to enroll in our health benefits program.
