INSTRUMENT MAN (INSTRUMENT OPERATOR)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Instrument Man to support survey field crews on a variety of projects. This position involves outdoor, physically demanding work in a variety of terrain and weather conditions. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, reliable, and willing to travel. Prior experience is preferred but not required - training will be provided for the right candidate.

Requirements
  • Must pass a drug screening
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, walking long distances, working outdoors)
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Prior survey or construction experience preferred but not required
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveys
  • Operate GPS/GNSS and conventional survey equipment under direction of the Party Chief
  • Assist with collecting field data, including elevations and measurements
  • Hold and level rods, prisms, and other survey equipment
  • Assist with layout and staking
  • Load, transport, and maintain equipment
  • Set up and break down survey equipment
  • Maintain accurate field notes and assist with data collection
  • Work closely with crew members to complete tasks efficiently
  • Clear survey lines as needed
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures
