SLB is seeking a motivated Automation Engineer to support our Data Center infrastructure solutions business.
The Technology Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing, and commissioning automation systems within constraints such as development cost, product quality, product safety, and time. The Automation Engineer will primarily focus on developing and implementing automation solutions for complex manufacturing and assembly processes. The engineer is expected to take automation projects from concept development through implementation and production ramp-up, working effectively with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, HSE, Maintenance, IT, and external system integrators.

Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Lead manufacturing automation projects from concept development through installation, commissioning, validation, and production ramp-up.
+ Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes to identify automation opportunities based on safety, quality, ergonomics, cycle time, capacity, and cost.
+ Develop automation concepts using industrial robots, automated fixtures, conveyors, gantries, material handling systems, machine vision, sensors, servo systems, and other automation technologies.
+ Define technical requirements, process sequences, equipment specifications, cycle-time requirements, system interfaces, and acceptance criteria for automation projects.
+ Develop technical specifications and RFQs and coordinate with automation integrators, machine builders, and equipment suppliers.
+ Evaluate supplier concepts and proposals based on technical feasibility, takt time, flexibility, safety, maintainability, reliability, cost, and lead time.
+ Lead and participate in technical design reviews covering equipment layout, robotics, tooling and fixtures, controls, electrical systems, safety systems, and material flow.
+ Coordinate the integration of robots, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, servo systems, machine vision, safety systems, and material handling equipment.
+ Review robotic applications considering payload, reach, cycle time, end-of-arm tooling, accessibility, process requirements, and equipment layout.
+ Support the development and validation of automated fixtures and tooling to ensure proper location, alignment, clamping, repeatability, and manufacturing tolerances.
+ Perform or support cycle-time, takt-time, and capacity analysis to ensure automation systems meet production requirements.
+ Support PLC, HMI, robot, and industrial control system programming and troubleshooting as required.
+ Coordinate and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment commissioning, and production validation.
+ Ensure automation solutions comply with applicable machine safety standards, risk assessments, guarding requirements, interlocks, and company HSE requirements.
+ Provide technical support and training to Manufacturing, Production, and Maintenance personnel for implemented automation systems.
+ Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of automation equipment and processes.
Qualifications And Experience Required
+ Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Manufacturing, Robotics Engineering, or related field.
+ Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience for external hire to be considered for a Senior Level.
+ Experience developing, implementing, or supporting industrial automation systems and automated manufacturing equipment.
