Responsible for the control of late and/or delinquent loan accounts and pending late payment reminders. Make follow up telephone calls on delinquent loan accounts and maintain accurate records on delinquent loan accounts. Optimize collections on accounts while balancing the goodwill of members with the overall business interests of the credit union.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist members with delinquent loans to resolve delinquency.
- Maintain collection files according to department procedures.
- Answer phones, process correspondence, and maintain accurate files.
- Respond to telephone calls regarding payment notices and delinquent accounts.
- Provide members with a complete explanation of the loan’s status as requested.
- Contact members by telephone or mail regarding delinquent accounts to determine the reason for the past-due condition of the loan or account.
- Follow up on delinquent loans and make calls for interest, partial, or full payment.
- Perform skip tracing duties as required and directed.
- Maintain a detailed written record of all communication regarding the delinquency.
- Make recommendations on actions that should be taken if loan collateral is in jeopardy, reporting to the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, Mathematics, & Grammar.
ExperienceCollection experience and loan experience preferred.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities, Licenses, etc.- Ability to communicate well, verbally or written, with co-workers, members, community members and management.
- Ability to comply with company and industry operating, safety standards, rules and regulations.
- Ability to work with confidential information, materials, and files appropriately, professionally, & discretely.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift,carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to demonstrate and apply manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Ability to view computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
Office Environment
