Dietary Aide

Overview

The Dietary Aide supports the dietary department by assisting with meal preparation, service, and cleanup while ensuring residents receive nutritious, appealing meals that meet their dietary needs. This role is essential in maintaining food safety, sanitation standards, and a positive dining experience for residents.

• Assist with preparation and portioning of meals according to menus and dietary guidelines
• Serve meals and beverages to residents in a timely, respectful manner
• Follow resident‑specific diet orders (e.g., diabetic, mechanical soft, low sodium)
• Set up and break down dining areas, trays, and meal carts
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment; maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
• Assist with inventory, stocking supplies, and storing food properly
• Communicate resident needs or concerns to nursing or dietary staff
• Provide friendly, courteous service to residents and visitors

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous food service experience, especially in healthcare or long‑term care, is a plus
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Compassionate attitude toward elderly residents
