Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in metal or steel processing. In this role, you will be heavily involved in the production process, managing everything from material testing and analysis to the creation of detailed shop travelers and CAD drawings. We need a problem solver who can seamlessly navigate between the shop floor and technical documentation, ensuring our products meet exact customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Order Setup - Coordinate new and existing orders from production planning through final output. Develop and maintain detailed product manufacturing instructions that meet customer and industry standards.
- Process Optimization - Monitor production process flows and internal systems to identify inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement. Enhance decision-making by implementing data-driven systems and best practices.
- Material Testing & Analysis - Oversee material testing (including tensile, Charpy, and chemical analysis) after heat treatment. Input and validate mechanical and chemical properties to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement - Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions in line with ISO 9001 requirements. Evaluate industry and customer standard changes and assess their impact on manufacturing processes.
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Manage inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate records in the company ERP.
- Monitor and maintain stock items (tees, cylinders, saddles, caps), ensuring proper levels are available for production.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare travelers for the shop floor, MTR (Material Test Report) forms, and inspection packages for customers and inspectors.
- Maintain up-to-date records of test results (tensile, charpy, chemistry), heat codes, and any quality documentation to ensure traceability.
- Prepare product related CAD drawings for customer and production floor.
- Update daily production schedules, backlogs, and create summary reports as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or Welding Engineering (or related field).
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in manufacturing process engineering within a production setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Hands‑on experience with CAD software and technical documentation.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with welding operations and ASME Sec. IX is an asset.
- Prior involvement in equipment commissioning, installation, or process improvement projects.
- Knowledge of non‑destructive testing (NDT) techniques (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET) and advanced statistical process control.
