Our multispecialty outpatient clinic is home to the only Clinical Motion Analysis Lab in Louisiana, allowing us to deliver advanced, data-driven care tailored to each child’s unique needs. In addition to our Shreveport campus, we extend our orthopedic expertise through an Outreach Clinic in Marshall, Texas, ensuring children across the region have access to specialized care close to home.
Job OverviewShriners Children’s Shreveport is seeking a skilled Pediatric Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our team on a PRN basis. This provider will manage pediatric orthopedic patients independently in an exclusively clinic-based setting, providing pre, post, and non-operative outpatient care for a wide range of conditions, including fractures, scoliosis, sports injuries, neuromuscular conditions, and developmental delays.
Responsibilities include performing casting, splinting, and fracture care procedures, as well as collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
PRN shifts are typically scheduled with flexibility, ranging from a few months in advance to last-minute coverage, with an expected frequency of approximately five shifts per month and no minimum shift requirements.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive and age-appropriate health assessments, histories, and physical exams.
- Formulate differential diagnoses and develop care plans in coordination with supervising physicians and the care team.
- Manage care for pediatric orthopedic specialty populations
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative evaluations and ongoing management in both inpatient and ambulatory surgical environments.
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, lab work, and other tests as permitted by licensure and protocol.
- Perform routine procedures within the scope of licensure.
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions consistent with the scope of practice and Shriners Children’s policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and care conferences to support coordinated, integrated care.
- Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on disease processes, treatment plans, and home care strategies.
- Document clinical findings, treatment plans, and patient responses using the electronic health record (EHR).
- Support quality improvement, patient safety, and research initiatives as appropriate to the role.
- Provide mentorship or precepting to clinical staff or trainees as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, including infection control and documentation standards.
