Overview
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position at Shreveport Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Shreveport, LA. The CNA is responsible for delivering and assisting residents with daily needs, personal care, and routine activities in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations, and licensing requirements. Provides basic nursing care under the direction of the licensed nurse supervisor.
Responsibilities- Provides residents’ personal hygiene (bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves) and assists with bathroom needs, showers, and baths.
- Assists with activities of daily living, including serving meals, feeding residents as necessary, ambulating, turning, and positioning.
- Assists with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., in accordance with resident safety needs; assists with preparation for and transportation to appointments and social programs.
- Participates in meal service, serving and clearing tables, ensuring appropriate meal seating, utensils within reach, tray delivery, and feeding assistance as needed; provides snacks and hydration per center policy.
- Delivers personal care services, prepares equipment and aids nurses during treatments and examinations.
- Checks residents regularly, answers call lights promptly, and follows up on resident problems or needs with appropriate escalation.
- Monitors resident stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information.
- Provides resident comfort by transporting residents, answering call lights, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records; maintains resident information confidentiality.
- Adheres to professional standards, center policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements to protect the center’s community and residents.
- Reviews care plans to determine changes in residents’ care routines; participates in shift change and nursing reports.
- Makes beds, changes bed linens, and maintains linens to prevent wrinkles; handles linens according to infection control guidelines.
- Maintains cleanliness of resident units, treatment areas, and related facilities; ensures beds, baths, and equipment are safe and clean.
- Provides post-mortem care as instructed.
- Other duties may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Must have valid CNA certification in good standing.
