Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our Level III NICU team in Shreveport, LA. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly collaborative group of neonatal providers dedicated to delivering exceptional care to critically ill and premature newborns.
The ideal candidate will have prior NICU experience and be comfortable managing high-acuity neonatal patients in both independent and team-based settings. This role includes a rotating schedule of days, nights, and weekends, providing comprehensive coverage for the NICU service.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advanced neonatal care for patients in a Level III NICU
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill and premature newborns
- Participate in delivery attendance, including high-risk deliveries and C-sections
- Perform neonatal assessments, stabilization, and ongoing management
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists and multidisciplinary care teams
- Respond to urgent and emergent neonatal situations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
- Provide education and support to families throughout the NICU stay
- Current licensure as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
- National certification as an NNP
- Previous NICU experience required
- Candidates with prior NICU nursing experience may be considered depending on overall background and training
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to function independently in high-acuity situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Level III NICU
- Established team consisting of 2 Neonatologists and 4 Advanced Practice Providers
- Work alongside a highly respected and supportive physician group
- Collaborative culture with strong provider retention and excellent team dynamics
- Balanced scheduling with shared coverage responsibilities among providers
- Day shifts include direct physician collaboration; overnight providers have physician call support available
- Rotating schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts
- Mix of days, nights, and weekends
- Schedule designed to provide equitable distribution of coverage among providers
