Job Overview
This position serves as a leader in the provision of patient care, applying the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Practice, and the Scope and Standards of Practice. The role entails effective delegation, direction, and assistance of licensed and ancillary team members, ensuring quality patient outcomes and contributing to unit and departmental strategic goals.
Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity is required in all interactions.
- Effectively uses the nursing process to deliver patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources, serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote changes that achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Embeds customer‑satisfaction concepts and practices to enhance employee morale and nursing profession standards.
- Adapts communication style and explanations to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and obtaining necessary permissions.
- Performs additional duties as required, providing continuous support to unit and department objectives.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s in nursing preferred).
- Minimum work experience: none required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certification in a clinical specialty area is preferred.
- Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time‑management skills, able to work independently.
- Sound judgement and decision‑making abilities.
Job duties may involve lifting ranges from 10 to 100 pounds, with occasional heavy work and frequent moderate work. Work requires walking, standing, and occasional pushing or pulling of objects. The role also involves exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential communicable diseases as well as hazardous medications and waste.
