MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of UPRISING ADDICTION CENTER is to offer the highest quality inpatient Detoxification, Residential Treatment, Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient services. We are committed to treating patients and their families with the highest regard and respect as clients work toward reaching their highest growth potential in their recovery process. This is accomplished through adherence to the highest ethical standards of care and policies and procedures set forth by the Louisiana Department of State Health Services and the Joint Commission.

SUMMARY

The Recovery Advocate at UPRISING ADDICTION CENTER is responsible for performing advanced indirect and selected direct patient care duties in support of the clinical process under the direction of the program director or manager, and for performing related clerical functions.

Age of Patient Population Served:
Adult (18 and older)

Population Served:
Persons meeting DSM-5 criteria for substance use disorders with or without co-occurring psychiatric illness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers appropriate indirect and selected direct patient care at a competent level as directed by a program manager and/or director, physician, registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the scope of approved Recovery Advocate skills inventory; collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to plan, expedite and promote quality patient care; employs critical thinking when identifying and responding to patient needs.
  • Performs, monitors and documents vital signs. Collects urine drug screens on admissions and random UDS on RTC, PHP and IOP patients as appropriate. Attends facility/community meetings and groups, conducts program orientation, searches belongings, and ensures security of unauthorized items. Conducts patient rounds and perimeter checks every thirty minutes to ensure patient safety.
  • Observes clients self-administered medication per physician orders and/or pharmacy label; documents reasons for refusal, side effects and complaints; notifies Operations by end of shift by preferred method of communication.
  • Checks the integrity of medications brought onto the unit and verifies medications through the use of PDR.
  • Monitors clients whereabouts and documents significant client issues within daily shift notes; notifies Operations by end of shift by preferred method of communication.
  • Ensures safe patient care adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Promotes professional growth by meeting mandatory/continuing education/skills competency requirements; supports department goals.
  • Performs basic housekeeping duties during the shift (e.g., cleaning rooms, bathrooms, laundry, sweeping/mopping floors, trash, making beds).
