Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
The role includes managing diverse patient populations, from newborns to geriatrics. The emergency room handles a variety of patient conditions including respiratory distress, diabetic issues, GI bleeds, and cardiac events. Minor trauma cases and mental health crises also fall under the nurse's purview. The average patient volume is between 85-95 visits per day. The patient ratio is approximately 1 nurse to 3 patients.
On the unit, charge nurses may or may not carry patient assignments. Phlebotomy services and rapid response teams are available as needed. Clientists are present for admissions. Tele-monitoring is conducted from the nursing station, using the Meditech Expanse EMR system for charting. IV pumps and medication dispensing are handled through specific systems. There will be no floating to other units. Travelers must rotate weekends every other weekend.
The schedule consists of four days one week followed by three days the next week. Time off can be requested for up to 7 days within the contract; more extensive time off requires additional arrangements. Holidays worked may include two to three during the contract period. Scrub colors are specified, and T-shirts must adhere to certain color guidelines. Badges must be worn visibly above the waist at all times.
