CRNA - Nocturnist

Overview

This role administers anesthesia to patients during the performance of surgical, obstetrical and other pain-producing clinical procedures under the supervision of a physician, in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for patients.

• Documents patient procedures and incidents.
• Assesses patient before, during, and after administering anesthesia.
• Ensures patient safety and administers anesthesia following accepted practice techniques.
• Acts as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families.
• Participates in department quality assurance initiatives and activities of professional development.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including privacy, introduction to the patient, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions and communication style.

Required – Master’s degree from a school of nurse anesthesia accredited by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Required – None.

• License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
• Certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Medium work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods. Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on-call availability). Duties may involve exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue.
