Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a NICU setting with an average daily census of 30 and a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Float to Mother Baby and Pediatrics units as needed based on departmental requirements
- Provide every-other-weekend coverage as part of standard scheduling expectations
- Participate in holiday coverage for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team by the unit manager during emergency events, with an expectation to remain at the facility or serve as part of a relief team until the event has passed
- Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records system
- Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
- BLS certification required (AHA)
- NRP certification required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required for previous travelers; minimum 3 years of NICU experience required for first-time travelers
- Epic electronic health records experience required
- NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from the address on the driver's license to the facility address) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have been separated for a full year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Familiarity with NICU patient diagnoses and procedures in an acute care environment
- Experience floating to Mother Baby or Pediatrics units
- Comfort working in high-acuity, fast-paced neonatal environments
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they meet the required experience threshold
- Orientation is held five days a week, with billable modules completed during orientation hours to support a smooth onboarding experience
