Crew Member, Grounds

Class Title

Uses appropriate tools to clean and maintain public rights-of-way.

• Uses appropriate tools, power tractor, riding mowers, hand mowers, weed eaters, edgers, chain saws and hand tools to weed, prune, water, spray, fertilize, plant, remove litter, and mow in the daily upkeep of shrubbery, flowers, trees, grass and other vegetation on public rights-of-way, golf courses, and in city parks.
• Helps and directs the loading and unloading of assigned vehicles with all appropriate tools, supplies and machinery to perform daily tasks.
• May be required to paint, clean or make repairs to structures, buildings, grounds or equipment as needed.
• May be required to operate heavy equipment if trained and qualified.
• May be required to operate vehicle or be placed in charge of crew in the absence of crew leader.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

• One year experience in related work.
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions and perform assigned tasks.
• Must have valid state driver's license.

• Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Requires moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
• Requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Will be exposed to strong odors, toxic/poisonous agents, smoke, fumes, gas, dirt, dust, grease, oil, pollen, chemicals, solvents, loud noise and disease/pathogens.
• May work in inclement weather.
• Will wear protective devices when called for.

Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish job assignments and visit job sites.
