Southern University Police Department is seeking driven applicants who are ready to begin or advance their career in a campus law enforcement enviroment. Join a team dedicated to protecting the university community while developing valuable law enforcement skills in a dynamic campus enviroment.

No experience or training is required.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

• Provides foot or mobile security patrol and enforces parking regulations across five campus sites and an apartment complex.
• Responds to emergencies and provide assistance as required through radio dispatch.
• Maintains logs of radio, telephone, and teletype activity, and monitor alarm systems and other police radio frequencies.
• Prepare daily activity reports and vehicle logs.
• Provide security for campus-wide events and activities.

Compensation: The Police Officer 1 offers a entrance rate of $35,000 annually. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
