Our Extended Day Guides/Teachers manage afternoon, mixed-age (Toddler-Kindergarten) programming from roughly 2:00–5:45 p.m., focusing on providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that complements the core Montessori workday. Responsibilities include supervising outdoor play, facilitating arts, crafts, and games, assisting with snack time, and fostering independence through a child-centered approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision & Safety:
    Proactively monitoring children during outdoor play, indoor activities, and transitions.
  • Environment Management:
    Maintaining a clean, orderly, and peaceful environment, including setting up and cleaning up activities and snacks.
  • Engaging

    Activities:

    Planning and leading creative activities, such as arts, crafts, music, movement, and group games.
  • Child Guidance:
    Modeling "grace and courtesy," supporting conflict resolution, and encouraging independence (e.g., self-care, cleaning up).
  • Communication:
    Interfacing with parents/caregivers at pick-up to share information about their child’s day.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education/Certification:

    Successful candidates will have a high school diploma and Early Education and Care (EEC) certification (or working towards it).
  • Experience:

    Prior experience working with young children (Toddler - Kindergarten) in a group setting.
  • Montessori Philosophy:
    Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Montessori principles and positive discipline techniques.
  • Attributes:
    Highly organized, patient, flexible, with a warm and compassionate demeanor.
Typical Schedule
  • Hours:

    Generally 2:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. (or similar), Monday through Friday.
  • Activities:

    Outdoor playtime, quiet reading, small group activities, and snack time.
