Are you a self-motivated student who loves tackling challenging projects? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain practical engineering experience and work on cutting edge technology? If so, Physik Instrumente could be the place for you! As an intern at PI, you would partner with our product development engineers and gain insight into the processes and systems used to deliver our innovative instruments and technology to our customers.
Students who enjoy building mechanical things and are curious about a mechanical engineering career in a manufacturing environment are highly encouraged to apply. This internship will take place in our Shrewsbury, MA office.
PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is a leader in high precision positioning systems. We design and manufacture world‑class precision motion and automation systems at our locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Our products include air bearings and air bearing stages, hexapod positioning and alignment systems, precision actuators, piezo drivers and much more! - Prepare detail and assembly drawings for precision motion systems.
- Generate 2D CAD drawings from 3D solid model layouts.
- Work on a variety of engineering projects ranging from research and development to building and testing instruments.
- Must be currently enrolled in a full‑time academic program from an accredited college or university, majoring in mechanical engineering or another related field.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship.
- Experience with using Solid Works CAD.
- Some experience with the manufacturing process
- Vocational school in engineering technology or metal fabrication
- Monday-Friday, in office.
- Students typically work 40 hours a week, but hours can be flexible. All work needs to be conducted during our core business hours; the exact hours can be discussed with your manager.
The pay range for this role is $24-26 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
