An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 7 Specialist Nurse Children in Care - to work with our current Children in Care Health Team within Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust - based at Coral House Shrewsbury.
The successful applicant will be a passionate and inspirational leader, with demonstratable experience of advocating for and working with Children in Care and Care Leavers.

Main duties of the jobWe are committed to delivering the best care for our Children in Care and Care Leavers.
The successful candidate will share this commitment and demonstrate our Trust values. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and forward-thinking Nurse who can articulate practical ideas on how the Trust can further develop its service, particularly regarding the upper age Children in Care and Care Leavers.
You will have the opportunity to line manage, be creative and deliver training engaging carers and partner agencies to ensure that health needs are assessed and met for Children in Care.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience working with children of all ages, vulnerable groups and those with additional health needs.
You should have experience of partnership working with key stakeholders; innovation and development and knowledge and understanding of delivery against key performance targets. Person SpecificationTRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Educated to degree level.
- To have completed specific training in the care of babies/children and young people and be registered on either Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register as a registered children's nurse or mental health nurse (in mental health organisations) or Part 3 as a specialist community public health nurse having completed a specific programme with a child and family focus.
- Have completed (or be willing to complete) specific post-registration training relevant to children and young people in care (including law, policy, and practice at level 2 or Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip).
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Significant experience of working with Children in Care and Care Leavers.
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Experience of holding Children in Care/Care Leavers caseloads.
- Experience of assessing risks and reporting and escalating concerns.
- Demonstrated experience of co- working in complex and challenging environments.
- Experience of working with partner agencies to promote the health of Children in Care.
- Sound Knowledge of legislation and policy relevant to Children in Care.
- Data protection, and NHS Confidentiality Guidance.
- Current knowledge of NHS safeguarding policy and process and underpinning legislation regarding Children in Care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of inter-agency working particularly with regard to Children in Care.
- IT skills and computer literacy.
- Understanding of the wider healthcare environment.
