The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking a Business Manager to lead the financial and administrative heart of our Department of Public Works (DPW). In this vital role, you will manage the fantastic DPW Business Management team of 8 full-time employees, and champion sound financial stewardship, overseeing budgeting, billing, accounts payable, and internal controls, while developing streamlined procedures and leveraging data to guide smart decision-making.

Working across all DPW divisions, you will strengthen communication, elevate customer service, and foster a "One Team" culture rooted in accountability and continuous improvement. What You’ll Do:

Direct the five core functions of the division:
Customer Service, Utility Billing, Financials (AP/Payroll), Permitting, and Solid Waste & Recycling.

Oversee hiring, training, and performance management for division personnel while fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous process improvement.

Oversee budget development, enterprise fund accounting, bank statement reconciliations, and billing for water, sewer, stormwater, and solid waste utilities.

Present financial reports and budgets to official boards and committees, manage solid waste vendor relations, and resolve challenging resident inquiries.

Work with Town Leadership to maintain billing platforms, streamline workflows, and implement new technology solutions.

What You’ll Bring:

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years experience and knowledge in business management, personnel management, or municipal accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills

Strong Leadership experience and the ability to delegate work appropriately and effectively coach employees.

Experience in sourcing, pricing, and purchasing goods and services preferred.

In-depth knowledge of municipal government operations
