The Postpartum / Mother‑baby nurse (RN) educates and assists new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the postpartum period. They perform the dual role of caring for the infants and educating mothers about care.

• Responsible for caring for both moms and their newborns after delivery.
• Monitors mothers in the critical hours following delivery and ensures proper recovery, recognizing postpartum depression and teaching new moms how to address emotions.
• Teaches new parents how to care for, bathe, breastfeed and/or bottle-feed the newborn and monitors the infant’s health.

• Active RN License
• Degree from an accredited nursing program
• BLS, ACLS & NRP Certification
• At least eighteen months of recent experience in an Acute Care Mother/Baby setting
• Other requirements as determined by the client facility
