This is an excellent opportunity to prepare and serve meals to residents at Sloan Estates Assisted Living. This is a full‑time position that includes every other weekend. Shifts may vary from  or . Basic knowledge of the different areas in the Nutrition Services Department is required, such as dish room, baking, cafeteria, and kitchen for cross training and supervisory purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve meals to hospital patients, residents, and customers.
  • Cook and prepare food according to menus, therapeutic diets, recipes, and production sheet with storage and utilization of products according to policy.
  • Present meals and maintain cleanliness of the department and service area.
  • Responsible for the meals for the Acute Care patients to ensure quality, accurate temperature, appropriate diets and requests, and patient satisfaction.
  • Employ proper food handling techniques in preparation of food and setting up/serving trays.
  • Deliver food, nourishments, and supplies to the Acute Care patients or Long‑Term Care residents.
  • Assist with putting freight away.
  • Properly handle and store raw materials, cooked food, and non‑food supplies.
  • Notify supervisor or maintenance if equipment is not running correctly or if any items are out of stock.
  • Must maintain a pleasant and courteous disposition at all times while working at a rapid pace and remaining focused on the patient/resident while staying within the time constraints.
  • Resolve customer/resident concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor.
  • Develop an understanding of the products served and the different recipes.
  • Appropriate documentation in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and equipment and order food and other necessary kitchen supplies per meal plan needs.
  • Promote and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment.
  • Report environmental deficiencies to supervisor or maintenance such as lighting and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Driver’s License.
  • 1-3 months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
