Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS Infrastructure Services) seeks a Data Center Project Engineer to drive the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS data centers. The role requires daily onsite presence, working with contractors and internal teams to ensure high‑quality, on‑time construction that meets safety, security, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross‑functional communication and coordination between regional general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive tracking systems for design modifications, RFIs, and change orders, producing detailed dashboards for leadership review.
- Evaluate Method of Procedure (MOP) submissions for thoroughness, necessity, and risk.
- Manage vendor onboarding processes, including security credentialing and orientation.
- Maintain current project management software with milestone updates, correspondence records, and document control.
- Coordinate and monitor owner‑furnished material deliveries to ensure timely arrival at construction sites.
- Establish and manage a centralized repository for contractor‑supplied construction data.
- Oversee quality assurance programs through implementation of checklists for substantial completion verification, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
- 3+ years of vendor management experience.
- 4+ years of experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
- 5+ years experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of construction or project management experience.
- Electrical or mechanical Journeyman license.
- Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
