Overview
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer. This position is a key role that will have exposure to all phases in the quoting, process optimization, equipment selection, manufacturing process, technical development, and lean adaptation. The applicant should have a strong desire and capability to advance into a key leadership role as an Advanced Engineering Manager/Director or Plant Manager within 3-5 years.
Initially this role will focus on learning key technical aspects of the manufacturing process and business analysis. This role will provide technical expertise, mentorship, and leadership in developing cost models, improving operational efficiency, leading improvement initiatives, and ensuring profitability across the organization.
- Process Engineering & Improvement (Primary):
Champion lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement programs across departments. - Direct cross-functional teams during new product launches, ensuring smooth transition from quoting to production.
- Evaluate and recommend advanced tooling, equipment, and automation strategies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead time studies, workflow analyses, and labor utilization projects to drive process efficiency.
- Quoting & Estimating:
Provide Technical support on cost estimates for new and existing products, incorporating labor standards, materials, tooling, and overhead. - Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to prepare accurate, competitive customer quotes.
- Maintain and refine quoting standards, databases, and process assumptions.
- Develop an understanding of the financial aspects as it relates to the P&L.
- Compare quoted assumptions to actual production results, and adjust standards as needed.
- Reporting & Strategic Impact:
Lead and provide executive-level reporting on improvement opportunities. - Develop short-term and long-term strategies for operations.
- Document best practices and create standardized processes for quoting and industrial engineering activities.
- Develop a sound understanding of the technical, quotation, process, and management process of the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, cost estimating, or process optimization.
- Proven track record of leading projects, mentoring team members, and driving measurable process improvements.
- Advanced knowledge of time studies, cost modeling, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools.
- Experience in metal fabrication and automation preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, cost estimating software, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
