Position: Transportation Engineer 3/Construction Project Engineer, PN 20060692

Responsibilities
  • Administer transportation projects from the preconstruction meeting through the finalization process, including running meetings, writing change orders, approving materials, and processing estimates for payment.
  • Work with contractors to resolve issues in the field.
  • Interpret plans for construction and ensure that the contractor complies with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor maintenance of traffic operations on projects to ensure that work zones are safe for the public.
  • Supervise lower‑level engineers, managers, and highway technicians (inspectors) working on assigned projects.

Qualifications
  • Licensed registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • Have 12 months experience as a group or project leader providing work direction and training to engineering technicians or lower‑level engineers, or 12 months experience in conducting engineering related research (applicable to staff specialist positions).
  • If assigned to operate a state vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Alternatively, have 12 months experience as Transportation Engineer 2 (85642) and, if operating a state vehicle, a valid driver’s license.
  • Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
